Reprographers, how has your year started out?

This morning, I received an e-mail from one of my frequent blog-visitors, and here’s what he said …..

So far 2012 is starting off very strong for us. January Sales were good along with a strong Gross Profit. February is shaping up to be a blockbuster month with more printing and a lot equipment sales/rentals. We expect March and April to be the same as February. This is the complete opposite for the same months in 2011!

My prediction for Reprographers for 2012 – your Sales will be up at least 10% in 2012. I do think that the Reprographics Industry is set for a rebound this year. Finally.

A rebound?Here's something: we're hearing from clients all across the country that there has been a sudden, noticeable increase in business over the last two months (or more). We've heard this before during the last few years, but it's always been spotty. This is the first time since 2007 where 90% of the reprographers we talk to are agreeing: there's been a significant bump. One reprographer in WI said it was his busiest December in three years. Another client in AR said the same thing about January. And they aren't alone.Woo hoo! Break out the champagne! 2012 is going to be a breakout year! Party!!Yeah, ok, put that bottle back. First off, it's waay too early to tell if this uptick has any legs. Secondly, even if we are seeing the beginning of a sustained rebound (let's hope!), no one is predicting that reprographics business will return to the good ol' days. Ever. The truth is things have changed… permanently. It's going to take a whole lot of work. AEC business can't be taken for granted. Don't ever again assume that projects will just walk in the door. More than ever before, 2012 will be about going out with clear, strong sales efforts and fighting for every scrap of business.We want to help.
